Icarus

I was actually adding this little bit of useless information to my blog description but it seems it is limited to 500 chars so now I have to create a separate blog entry just for Icarus.

He was the Greek guy who, along with his father (I forget his name), escaped from incarceration in a tower by making themselves wings of wax and feathers and flying the hell out of there. His father made it but Icarus became so intoxicated by the flight that he soared so high that the sun melted the wax holding his feathers together. He apparently then fell to his death.

I can relate to this. I have to be very careful about things I find exhilarating or intoxicating as I tend to overdo them to the extreme and invariably see my ass as a result.

Oh yes and before I forget, Happy Spring Day to you all!

My Big Fat Afrikaans Wedding

I have to admit that this was one of the most wonderful days of my life. I never thought that it would be, in fact I used to dread the day I would get married. The thing I did not anticipate though was the fact that I would have so many really awesome people at the event or that I would be marrying such an awesome woman.
My wife made all the difference, literally. She arranged the whole thing from top to bottom, down to the smallest detail. I have to also say that I am super, SUPER impressed with her for doing this!
